A comedy
By Charles Ludlam

plays of yesteryear, The Mystery of Irma Vep," concerns Lord Edgar,
his staff, and his second wife as they adjust to some strange happenings around

Character Breakdown:
Dan
Brown is::
•
Jane
Twisden – the maid. Jane is the atypical, solid British maid, dependable and
unwavering. She is completely loyal to her former employer, Lady Irma Vep and
she detests Nicodemus.
•
Lord
Edgar – the lord of the manor. His lordship is an example of the British
aristocrat. He fancies himself an Egyptologist and often goes exploring but is
not necessarily the adventurous personality. He has married again after the
death of his first wife, Irma Vep. Although Irma is dead, he is deeply devoted
to his first wife as well as his second wife.
•
An
Intruder – rather self explanatory here; Very much the mysterious, masked
intruder.
•
Irma
Vep – is it really Irma? (the answer here is no.)
Todd King is:
•
Nicodemus
– the groomsman. Nicodemus is the gardener/grounds man/go for, etc. He is a
hearty Englishman who can be rather crass (think cockney accent here). He
happens to have a peg leg and he has a little crush on Jane (which she rebukes).
•
Lady
Enid – the lady of the manor and Lord Edgar’s second wife. Before marrying
Lord Edgar, she was an actress and is unable to shed the skin of an actress. In
a way she is the aging starlet who hangs onto the aura of the “ACTRESS.”
•
Alcazar
– Egyptian guide. He is rather shifty and one doesn’t know what his real
motives are.
•
Pev
Amri – Egyptian princess and mummy. She is awakened by Lord Edgar on one of
his trips to Egypt. Is she really a dead Egyptian princess? (the answer here is
no.)

Todd King is our veteran stage performer who’s experience has taken him from Sherlock Holmes to George Bailey to the dentist in THE LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS, just to name a few roles in his lengthy acting career. Dan Brown is the ‘new blood’ of ZCT. Although relatively new to stage productions, he has been a feature in many Brandon Ransbottom projects; not forgetting his growing stage resume at ZCT.
