Cast Bios - The Mousetrap

Shelley Miller (Mollie Ralston) – Shelley is a left-handed, self-proclaimed "doodlebug" who’s been onstage ever since she was in grade school. She lends her talents to the theatre in many ways. Her stage and set artistry jump to the forefront. Her imagination has given life to worlds from The Tempest to Steel Magnolias; Rumors to To Kill a Mockingbird, and now to Agatha Christie’s Monkswell Manor. Her other theatrical contributions include producing, assistant directing, writing and performing onstage.

While not on stage, Shelley’s calendar has been claimed for the rest of the year. She is the assistant director for the Angel Tree Program. She’s the organization behind the show and already is immersed in the planning details. As if that weren’t enough, this December brings a groom to her life. On Christmas Eve of this year, she weds her onstage husband and long-time friend, Rich Tolliver. She’s very excited and don’t worry, she’s planning to take time off for her honeymoon.

Rich Tolliver (Giles Ralston) – Rich’s theatre career spans over twenty-five years. In 1976 he built his first set for Arsenic and Old Lace. Bitten by the theatre bug, it started a lifelong passion. As an award winning set designer and director, he feels that theatres on the community level should strive for the suspension of disbelief. Theatre is the ultimate medium. You give 100%, knowing you cannot achieve perfection, but if we can do it well enough – for a couple of hours you’ll be entertained.

He’s also helped write, direct and produce Zanesville Community Theatre’s Angel Tree Program for ten years. "I am proud to give something back to the community. We feel it is important to give children a reason to believe, to have faith in something and to be rewarded for it – even if its just Santa Claus".

Keith McCarroll (Christopher Wren) – is a teacher at Philo High School, where he teaches the most awesome students in the area, English and theatre. Keith is proud to have been a part of many shows here at ZCT, including many Shakespearean productions, Neil Simon’s Biloxi Blues (Keith’s favorite playwright), and most recently Those Strange and Glorious Years.

Keith’s dream is to one day go to Broadway and play the part of Roger in his favorite musical, Rent. True, he can’t sing, but he can lip sync with the best of them. Keith would like to thank you for coming out and supporting theatre in Zanesville, and hopes to see you at Philo High School when they begin their theatre season in November.

Jan Kiikka (Mrs. Boyle) has been a member of ZCT for over thirteen years, doing everything from running the box office, sewing costumes, painting sets, doing make-up to acting and refurbishing the lobby. She is the district media specialist for Franklin Local Schools and lives in the McIntire Terrace area with her husband, Niel and various assorted animals. Jan sews for a statewide group called Touching Little Lives, which provides baby clothes, toys and blankets for preemies and newborns.

Eric Blake (Major Metcalf) Long, long ago in a land, not so far away, I performed onstage for the first time. I have been involved with local theatre on and off since then. I have been cast in roles in South Pacific, The Music Man, L’il Abner and The Red Spider. I have also been involved with ZCT’s Angel Tree Benefits for the past several years. I was the Shopkeeper in The Cowboy, Downbeat in Mistletoe Memories and my favorite role to-date was Clarence the angel in It’s a Wonderful Life. I would like to thank my wife and family for their support in my theatre endeavors. They make it all possible!

Lindsay Flynn (Miss Casewell) Lindsay is a sophomore at Ohio University-Zanesville, majoring in Integrated Language Arts. She plans to either teach high school English or go to law school when she has completed her degree. Lindsay works in the OUZ nursing office and is secretary of the Student Senate. She was active in theatre at Philo High School. She played Mrs. Van Daan in The Diary of Anne Frank and Patsy in Crazy for You. This is her first performance at Zanesville Community Theatre.

Robert Leland Taylor (Mr. Paravicini ) Robert is proud to be making his third stage appearance here at ZCT. He was last seen as Candy in the 1999 production of Of Mice and Men, and as Uncle Louie in Lost in Yonkers earlier the same year. His original play, Those Strange and Glorious Years, was staged here last season after successful productions in Baltimore, MD and Thousand Oaks, CA. The play was also showcased at this season’s OCTA awards in Cambridge. Robert is looking forward to ZCT’s production of another of his plays, Billy Would’ve Been Thirty Today, which opens January 25, 2002, after runs at the Avalon Theatre in Baltimore, MD and The American Theatre of Actors in New York City. He urges everyone to come to see "Billy" and thanks you for accepting him as a Zanesvillian after his move here in ’99.

"Thunder" Dan Shuey (Detective Sergeant Trotter) is a young actor who is currently a senior at West Muskingum High School. When he isn’t blessing the ZCT stage with his presence in such shows as Tommy, Lost in Yonkers, To Kill a Mockingbird and The Lion in Winter (to name a few), he tries to perform his duties as senior class president and West Muskingum drama club president. He also works part-time at the John McIntire Library. "The Lady-Killer", as he is often called, wishes to thank the director and his fellow actors for being "awesome" and thanks to the audience for coming.
