Amy P Underwood (Sister Aloysius Beauvier) - How does a production company go about bringing an abstract idea, such as “doubt” to life before an audience? The concept is challenging, but the playwright’s words are wonderful and will take us all there if we just open our minds and follow. Participating in this production of Doubt, with such a great ensemble cast and production staff, has been a journey which I would never have wanted to miss. Some other journeys I’ve taken onstage include Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?; MacBeth; The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (abridged); The Lion, the Witch and Wardrobe; The Taming of the Shrew; Noises Off and The Lion in Winter. |

Allison Bashore (Sister James) - I moved into the area over 3 years ago from Circleville where I had participated in theater since childhood. I started doing shows here as a way to meet people. I have been both on-stage and back stage and am honored to say I have met some amazing people while doing theater here at ZCT. I am thrilled to be back on stage after taking time off to get married, and hope everyone enjoys the show. |

Dorlesia Jordan (Mrs. Muller) has been performing in shows at ZCT for the past 16 years. This is the smallest cast I have ever worked with and I have enjoyed every minute. Mrs. Muller has been by far the most difficult character I have played because as a mother, I couldn't handle that situation the way she did; but that's why it's called Acting and I love every minute of it! Please enjoy the show. |

Eric B. Blake (Director) - Eric has been involved in theatre for many years He loves being involved either on stage or working behind the scenes. It was instilled in him at an early age that it is just as important to know set construction and other technical aspects of theatre as well as developing acting skills. Eric has been involved with ZCT for several years where he is currently the President of the Board of Directors. He feels that it is so important to give back to our community, and being involved with ZCT affords him that opportunity whether by nurturing young talent and providing them a safe place to learn and have a good time or by fund raising to help provide a much needed boost to those in need. Eric enjoys directing as well as being on stage. In addition to directing this show, Eric has recently directed J.B., Steel Magnolias, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf, and The Lion In Winter at Zanesville Community Theatre. Eric is eagerly anticipating directing the show Rent at ZCT this season. On stage, Eric recently portrayed Biff Loman in ZCT’s production of Death of A Salesman. Eric would like to thank you for supporting Zanesville Community Theatre over the years! He hopes that you truly enjoy this show as much as he has enjoyed directing and working with this wonderful cast and crew! John Patrick Shanley states that doubt requires more courage than conviction does, and more energy: because conviction is a resting place and doubt is infinite - it is a passionate exercise. Have you ever pushed your convictions beyond the point of being sure? Have you ever been part of a society or culture that you no longer are sure that you hold the original ideals dear to your heart? More simply, have you ever made a decision and wondered if it was the right choice? Looking back can, at times, be a painful exercise, one that only you can know the true meaning of that reflection. The setting for this show should, in no way, reflect negatively upon the deeply rooted Catholic community in our area. We are faced with the situations and convictions of this show in most any walk of life. The cast and crew of this show had many poignant discussions about these situations and convictions and unanimously agreed that the show is so much more than its setting. Every one of us has made decisions based on our own convictions only to begin to have doubts after the decisions were made. You will probably leave this play with a measure of uncertainty. There is no right or wrong answer. If that is true, then we have done our job. I ask that you to hold onto that feeling and reflect on it. Each of us has lived with uncertainty and doubt about some of the decisions we have made. The true question is this: did we learn from these decisions? Sincerely, Eric B. Blake, Director |

Janice Blake (Assistant
Director) - As many of you know, Janice is the very verbal and outspoken wife of Eric. She has been involved with the theatre in many ways behind the scenes for several years. Janice most recently appeared on stage in last season’s production of
J.B. She has also enjoyed being on stage in several Angel Tree Benefit shows at ZCT. Her biggest, and probably most difficult task is keeping her husband on track and out of the theatre for at least a couple of weeks each year! This is Janice’s first endeavor at being Assistant Director (in title) and she has enjoyed working with this cast and crew tremendously! She wishes to thank everyone who has made this show a success, especially those persons who helped her with her duties as Assistant Director. |

Angel Palmer (Producer) I am honored that this theater offers me opportunities to step outside of my comfort zone and do things I have never done before. I have never produced before, but I love the message of this show and how it applies to so many areas in life, so I have been willing to do whatever it takes to make sure it is a success. That has honestly not been a difficult task with this amazing cast and crew! I hope that everyone grasps the many layers in the show and finds a truth in it for themselves. |

Tony Palmer (Stage Manager) I am a homeschooled junior who loves the theater and music more than almost anything else in the world. While I love being onstage, I also think it is important to understand all of what goes on backstage to have a better appreciation of what makes a great show run well. This is my second time as a Stage Manager and this is definitely a great show! I am glad I get to be a part of it. |
