Zanesville Community Theatre, Inc.is a wholly volunteer organization, having no paid staff positions. ZCT serves the Zanesville and Southeastern Ohio areas. ZCT is dedicated to the production of plays, musicals, and other dramatic presentations; and to the education of our members and the communities we serve in theatrical techniques and presentations. ZCT's first show was in November 1963. ZCT is a 501(c)(3) non-profit.

The Zanesville Community Theatre's 20th Annual Angel Tree Benefit

Once again these intrepid thespians are heading up a troop of volunteers who want to make a difference in the lives of others by raising funds to help the Salvation Army's Mission in helping others during the holiday season.

How does Zanesville Community Theatre do it?

Well....each year the Zanesville Community Theatre creates a holiday show that casts everyone that auditions. Yep EVERYBODY gets a part! No prepared pieces are needed. Anyone who wants to participate - can! Everyone is welcome. From the young to the young at heart - not a soul is turned away.

Rich, Shelley and friends then create a festive holiday show around those who audition!

The theater also conducts a raffle. Raffle prizes are donated by generous businesses and citizens who want to contribute to the cause. (Tickets are $1 each or six for $5.) Prizes range from new tool sets from Goss or new Bicycles to designer bags and floral arrangements - and everything in between!

ZCT then tosses their set ticket price aside in lieu of a donation instead. This way, families, no matter their size or economic status can enjoy a quality holiday show together.

This production is a volunteer effort.

100% of the funds from the donations-in-lieu-ticket-prices and raffle ticket sales goes directly to purchase items for children on the Salvation Army's Angel Tree. %100. Not a penny of that money is used for other purposes.

ZCT pays the bills by the sale of concessions during this production. Donations to the theater are greatly appreciated.

Our show is 1 weekend only - the second weekend in December - the 11th, 12th and 13th.

Reservations are made by calling ZCT at (740) 455-6487. As this is a benefit fundraiser, on-line reservations aren't possible. Reservations are a must as seating is limited. Our house seats around 92 per production.

Director's Note:

Our theatre, being wholly subsidized by our patrons and members from Zanesville and surrounding communities, needed a way to say 'Thank You' and give something back to the community. I thought a community Christmas show would be just the ticket. With the help of an old friend (Bruce Revennaugh) we came up with some guidelines

We'd put on two shows
We would write and produce it ourselves
We would give all the monies we garnered to the Salvation Army's Angel Tree (ZCT's shoppers using the money raised and actually buying the presents delivered to the Salvation Army)
We would take only donations (no set ticket price)
and
We would cast everybody that auditions
(this would help us find new talent)

Our goal was to put on a quality theatrical production, family oriented, celebrating the season and ultimately help some kids in the
process.

That was 19 years ago. Two shows have expanded to three and sometimes four.

Friends, family, professional and amateurs - our people have come together to entertain the community, provoking laughter, tears, introspective thoughts and rejoicing. Raising thousands of dollars and helping hundreds of children - dreams become reality and on Christmas morning, the gifts we help give seemingly come back ten fold.

Silence Your Dead or Unwanted Cell Phones - FOREVER!!!
ZCT is Going Green. Bring your used cell phones (broken or working w/ chargers if you have them) in during show dates. We will recycle them for you!
