 Bruce Revennaugh (Zuss)
   T. JohnPaul Adams (Nickles) is happy to be performing in his debut at ZCT. Prior to moving to Zanesville, Johnpaul assisted on and offstage while in college at Cedarville University. His acting history includes Alice in Wonderland (Gryphon), Little Read Riding Hood: A Children's Opera (Wolf/Woodsman), Moliere's The Imaginary Invalid (Thomas Diaforous), and in the first production of The Lily of Persia: A New Musical among others. Micah 6:8.
Todd King (J.B.) - Todd is what some might call a “seasoned veteran” of the Zanesville Community Theatre stage. He has performed in a number of productions here, since the early 1990’s. Most recently, he played dual roles in “Honk!” (two distinct forms of poultry), and prior to that as the lecherous footman in “Something’s Afoot”. He enjoys both the on-stage reverie as well as the backstage trench work. In J.B. he will attempt to portray a modern day Job, and hopes you will leave the theater with a renewed sense of the world’s “big picture” (God is not accountable to us…she allows our existence and allows us to wonder and be wondered of). He encourages you to expect not just good community theatre from ZCT; but to expect excellent theatre from a company that happens to be right here, in your community.
Amy King (Sarah) This script terrified me. Seriously! But who can resist a dark drama that leaves one with such hope at the end? Not I! I am honored to be playing the part of Sarah opposite my husband, Todd. In ten years of acting with Todd, this is our first drama together. I daresay, it won’t be our last, as we love this theatre and the folks that make it all happen. If I do my job, Sarah will strum the strings of your heart and leave you with a newfound appreciation of life. I encourage you to enjoy the humor (dark and rare as it is) along the way!
Dave Kerr (The Distant Voice) After traveling the world over and retiring from the U.S. Air Force, David has returned to his hometown of Zanesville. He has performed in numerous shows in the past, to include portraying the characters of Herr Zeller in The Sound of Music, Samuel in Pirates of Penzance, and Arvide Abernathy in Guys & Dolls. For the past six years, David has been a cast member of the Living Word Outdoor Drama. David has been married for 26 years. He and his wife Rita have four children; Amanda, who attends Muskingum University, Aaron, who attends The Ohio State University, and the remaining two, Cassandra and Nathaniel, attend the East Muskingum Middle School in New Concord.
Grace Johnson (Rebecca is 8 years old and is in the third grade at Bishop Fenwick School. J.B. is her 5th show on the ZCT stage. Most recently she played Gladys Herdman in The Best Christmas Pageant Ever. Grace also enjoys reading, singing, dancing and playing tennis
 Cary Underwood (Ruth
Cassie Kerr (Mary) Cassie is in the 8th grade at the East Muskingum Middle School. This is her first opportunity to perform with the ZCT and she is looking forward to expanding her growing appreciation for the arts. She is active in the band and choir at school and has taken ballet for five years and has performed in the Nutcracker twice, one of those with the Moscow Ballet.
 Paul Palmer (Jonathan)
 Tony Palmer (David)
 Angel Palmer (First Maid)
   Kaylee Cravenor (Second Maid)
 Dan Brown (First Roustabout)
Rich Tolliver (Second Roustabout) has spent over 30 years around the theater - set building and design, acting in musicals, comedies and dramas, producing, writing, directing and taking out the trash. "It's all good" he says "but I am most proud of our involvement with our annual Christmas Angel Tree Benefit and the work we've done with kids in the schools.

"It's simple really, we are here to tell a story and when the audience gets it, it doesn't get any better than that."
   Dan Brown (First Soldier)
 Kevin Lucas (Second Soldier)
   Janelle Hubble (The Girl
   Dan Brown (First Reporter)
   Rich Tolliver (Second Reporter)
 Phil Palmer (First Police Officer)
   Dan Brown (Second Police Officer)
 Sue Barzda (Boticelli)
Michele Bryan Wilson (Miss Mabel) is making her debut on the Zanesville Community Theatre stage. Her last adventure in theatre was directing Medea at Ohio University-Zanesville in 1993. She is an OUZ Thespian of the 70's.
 Nicholas Clawson (Boy)
Shelley Tolliver (Lesure) is happy to find herself involved in Eric Blake's vision of JB. As a last minute addition, she was literally thrust into a complex world of characters and compelling story dynamics. In catching up, she has learned a huge amount about language and the vast range of interpretations surrounding the story of Job. Detailing the set has been great fun and a wonderful opportunity to learn about circus life and designs from days gone by.

When not on stage, this happy-go-lucky lefty is wife to Rich Tolliver (Eliphaz) and is seeking her Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. Not one to miss a challenging opportunity, she is gearing up to assist Bruce Revennaugh in directing Death of A Salesman, assist in the construction and planning of Noises Off and is ready for some good ole' rock-n-roll with the summer production of All Shook Up in which she'll assist Bruce and husband, Rich, in bringing a great show to life! She thanks everyone for supporting the arts at ZCT.
 Phoenix Palmer (Jolly)
Cindy Sterling (MurphyActive in theatre for over 30 years, Cindy is looking forward to playing the snooty, homeless character, Murphy, in this production of  J.B.   " Once the acting bug bites, theatre gets into your bloodstream -- you love it.   I believe in supporting the arts,  and this is my way of 'paying it forward,' as Woody Hayes liked to say."

In her time not on stage, Cindy can be found teaching English at Maysville High School as well as directing the school plays.  Her favorite theatre roles include the explosive, temperamental, Hungarian cook, Mitzi, in A Murder Is Announced,  the naughty fairy, Trollarina, in Sleeping Beauty, Doris in The Cemetery Club, Lillie in Mixed Doubles, Martha in Arsenic and Old Lace, and Mrs. Baker in Come Blow Your Horn.  Cindy lives with her son Matthew when he's home from OSU, as well as her two cats.  Her daughter, Kayla, and son-in-law, Joey, who live in Vermont, are expecting a baby  in late April.

Eric Blake (Director) - Eric has been involved in theatre for many years He loves being involved either on stage or working behind the scenes. It was instilled in him at an early age that it is just as important to know set construction and other technical aspects of theatre as well as developing acting skills. Eric has been involved with ZCT for several years where he is currently the President of the Board of Directors. He feels that it is so important to give back to our community, and being involved with ZCT affords him that opportunity by nurturing young talent and providing them a safe place to learn and have a good time.

Eric enjoys directing as well as being on stage. Eric has recently directed Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf, and The Lion In Winter and co-directed Steel Magnolias and A Murder Is Announced at Zanesville Community Theatre.

J.B. provides the opportunity for each of us to reflect on our lives and explore our own convictions. He hopes that you truly enjoy this show as much as he has enjoyed directing and working with this wonderful cast and crew! Eric would like to thank you for supporting Zanesville Community Theatre over the years!

Director's Notes:

J.B., published in 1958, is a play in verse based on the biblical story of Job. It represents Archibald MacLeish's responses to the horrors he saw during two world wars. This show was the Pulitzer Prize Play of 1959 as well as the Tony Award for Best Play of that year. MacLeish tells the story of an American banker-millionaire whom God commands be stripped of his family and his wealth but who refuses to turn his back on God. One might wonder why I would choose to direct a work that contains so much death and destruction. The answer is simple, because of the message that Archibald MacLeish leaves audiences.

J.B.’s message is simple. Each and every one of us has faced trials and despair that, while they may not compare to those faced by Job, have left us feeling devastated, alone and ready to curse God for putting us in a situation that would cause so much pain. Through beautiful language, MacLeish asks audiences to consider our own spirituality and our commitment to that spirituality. This commitment is what brings back life to J.B. This commitment is what allows each of us to take back our own lives, to overcome trials and despair, to do so through love, compassion, and our commitment to our own spirituality.

I hope that you leave the theatre with a renewed sense of your own spirituality. I hope that you are able to take back your own lives regardless of the vast indifference of the world today, and do so in love. To love and to live in that love.

Sincerely,

Eric B. Blake

Amy Underwood (Assistant Director) Archibald MacLeish’s stunning verse play, J.B., brought me to the theatre many years ago. My first onstage experience for the Zanesville Community Theatre was in the cast of this beautiful piece of theatre. It was an intense learning experience for me; one which introduced me to the power of a well-done piece of theatre. My mentor for all of this was a remarkable woman, Mary Elizabeth Stiers, and it is in her honor that I have taken all the lessons learned over thirty plus years of theatrical experience and tried to pour them into this very meaningful production. It is my hope that audience members, as well as the J.B. company members, will find inspiration and positive insights here to carry along with them throughout this new year.
