This play is a slice of American life in the early 1900s. The characters all represent people you know - The Stage Manager who serves as the narrator of the story and guide though the histories of the families who live, grow and pass on in Grover's Corners, New Hampshire. Characters include: Dr. Gibbs and his wife and their children George and Rebecca. The Webb family with children Wally and Emily. George and Emily fall in love and marry. This story follows them through their courtship and life. This show has parts for men, women, teens, and some children. Most libraries have copies of the script if you are interested in knowing more about the show. You may also order your own copy of the acting edition script from Samuel French's Bookstore - the link is at the top of this page.

The enchantment of this story will be the performers and how they bring Mr. Wilder's words to life. It is designed to be a 'bare bones set' thus further showcasing the quality of characters - the gossipy women, the tenacious mothers who tend to the needs of the children, men who are stout, or endearingly real. The characters are all people we know - our friends, our families and our neighbors.

Note from the Director: When auditioning for this show, read like you want the part.Our Town is a walk through Americana - small town life, small town neighbors, strife and celebrations. Set in Grovers Corners, NH this black box production introduces audience members to the simplicity of life in its abundance.
