Cast Thinks - Seussical the Musical  Show Pictures
When asked what they imagined when they were a kid, the cast responded…

Rob Cook (Cat in the Hat) As a child, back when dinosaurs roamed the earth, and fire was new, I used to pretend I was a spy, roaming the woods at my grandparent’s house.  I would observe the house and sneak up on my family, capture them, and sell them for a fair price to an angry Mongolian.

Nikki Herron (JoJo) My imagination is wild.  I think of all kinds of things.  One thing I used to imagine is that I were on a horse and I did all kinds of jumps. It felt like flying.

Joel Weekley (Horton) I imagine that I can fly and soar over the earth to enjoy all it’s beauty

Sarah Rice (Gertrude) I’ve done a few shows here at ZCT but this is my first musical – well on this side of the piano anyway.  I love the imagination and music that this show encompasses!  I grew up on every imaginable Dr. Seuss story out there so my Dad and I spent a lot of time creating our own seuss-like creatures and words.  Those are some of my best memories of childhood – Dad and I making up crazy stuff and mom illustrating it for us.  We called it “drawing conclusions

Stefani Weaver (Mayzie) When I was little, I used to watch She-Ra the cartoon.  I wanted to be her and look just like her.  She was beautiful and very powerful, two combinations I really like.  I also wanted to be a mermaid and a vampire.

Bill Hertler (Wickersham - Bass) Growing up in a family with two brothers and two sisters, privacy was an important thing to me.  When I would find that precious time, I would imagine I was a game show host!  I used to love watching game shows, so where there weren’t any on, I would get out a home game of a show to play or take out a deck of playing cards and make up my own variations of a game show.  I would even come up with a different voice for each contestant and for the host.  Among my favorite re-encactments were The Price Is Right, Gambit, Hollywood Squares, and Press Your Luck.

Jon Geyer (Wickersham - Baritone) The best things about childhood was how every small task became an adventure.  I wish that now as an adult I was able to imagine those same things, and just for a moment a small task would become a grand adventure

Aaron Staley (Wickersham -Tenor) When I was a kid, I wanted to be a rock star.  I always dreamt of standing on the field at the Super Bowl and belting out the national anthem.  I still have this dream.

Andrea Schmitt (Bird Girl - Soprano) When I was younger, I watched Shirley Temple movies non-stop.  I used to believe that I would be a great tap dancer like her.  That all changed when I realized I hated dancing.  Now I have a burning passion for singing.  It’s been seven years and that passion hasn’t been blown out…let’s hope it never does

Linda Steinke (Bird Girl -Soprano II) I liked to imagine since I was a very small girl, that I was big and very athletic and strong.  Something like a super hero (Wonder Woman) and everyone wanted to be my friend.  My cousin and I like to play super heroes.  I am 33 years old and a mother of a 14 years old boy, 10 year old girl, and 3 year old boy.  I have a boyfriend named Joel and his daughter is 11 years old.  I stay busy by working at the Home Depot.  I’m originally from New Jersey.

Dorlesia Jordan (Bird Girl – Alto) When I was a kid I would imagine what it would be like to go on an African safari and see all the native animals run free through the lands and how neat it would be to see the zebras in fields grazing instead of the horses

Dee McCarthy (Sour Kangaroo) I used to imagine being a mommy and playing house with the neighbor boys and girls as my family.  I also imagined a huge Barbie neighborhood, much like Desperate Housewives.  Now I imagine sitting on a beach doing nothing.

Adam Johnson (Mayor) I like to pretend that I’m an actor.  I pretend I’m getting an Oscar or other award.  I like to get in front of my mirror and make a speech about me winning an Oscar.

Max Knight (Mayor’s Wife) When I was a kid, I used to imagine that I was Rouge from the X-men.  I would try to jump off my bed, to see if I could fly.  I would color paper silver, and pretend I could rip through metal.

Rich Tolliver (General, Set Designer)  When I was a child I imagined many things. My heroes ranged from biblical to Peter Pan, from Tom Sawyer to George Washington, I could get lost in Dickens and La'more and moved onto to Eckert. I listened to music and fantasized stardom - an escape into fantasy when life was too real. Maybe I still do. I hope I never lose the child that still lingers in my soul, because if I do, I "imagine" life won't be worth much at all.

Chris Meadnam (Grinch, Vlad Vladikoff, Yertle the Turtle) When I was a kid, my infallible dream was to be Batman.

Paige Natalie (Who) When my friends and I got together, we dared each to pretend to be something.  We pretended to be elephants, pretended to play the drums, and just being crazy.  My favorite was when I had to pretend to be a rock star and jump all around the place.

Samantha Stepp (Who) I’m 14 years of age and this is my 4th show at ZCT, not counting numerous Angel Tree Benefit shows.  When I was younger, I used to imagine that I was the Pink Power Ranger, Kimberly because she was the only female Power Ranger, and kicked the most butt.

Maddie McCarthy (Who) When I was 5, I imagined a flying elephant.  The elephant was named Eley.  She was very smart and also very pretty.  She could fly with her big ears.

Sadie McCarthy (Who) I imagine being an artist, or being a cat or a dog, or swimming with the dolphins

Mia McCarthy (Who) I imagine being a princess with lots of toys.

Carys Underwood (Who) I have an imaginary friend.  Her name is Foxeye. I have two more imaginary friends. There names are Jessey and Kally.

Madison Dittmar (Who) I imagine that I’m a rock star.

Emmie Jordan (Who)

Arielle Combs (Who) I like to imagine that I’m flying.  I like to imagine that I’m riding a horse.  I like to imagine I have a dog.  I like to imagine that I’m famous.

Nicholas Clawson (Who) I like to dress up in my best church suit and play the electronic organ while my sister dances in her leotard across our wooden floors.  When I finish we both take a bow for the audience.

Susan Barzda (Who) When I was a kid, I loved to watch cartoons like ‘Might Mouse’, or ‘Popeye’, and all the Walt Disney animated stories.  Because I loved the way the characters sang, danced, and faced down their ferocious enemies, I used to imagine I was a cartoon rabbit, just like “Bugs Bunny” – but the female version.  I particularly liked his sassy attitude and the way he always outsmarted Elmer Fudd in every cartoon.  After that I imaged being a “flying trapeze artist”, in the circus, and later….and astronaut.

Janet Prince (Who) I always imagined entering a room through French doors wearing fabulous clothes.  (If you are old enough, you know who I was thinking about)

Sherrie Johnson (Who) I would always pretend to be a star!  I have always been very dramatic, emotive and expressive.  I just knew that one day I would be accepting an Oscar for a starring role, so I would practice my acceptance speech.

Sierra Archibald (Who) In my background, there was a graveyard.  My brothers and I would ride our bikes like we were being chased by ghosts and zombies.

Seussical Staff

Amy King ( Director ) When I pick a show to direct, I look for titles that I recognize. And who doesn’t recognize the name Seuss? Dr. Seuss gives us all the freedom to use our imagination. When I was a kid, I spent a lot of time in my imagination. My imagination took me everywhere. I was Luke Duke in the Dukes of Hazard, I was a teacher, I was a pet shop owner, I was a princess…you name it, I imagined it. I loved writing my own plays and trying to make costumes out of stuff around the house. There were many Thanksgivings where I wore a paper Pilgrim Hat and a bathrobe. I used towels as wigs and pretended to have long hair. I hope this show allows each and every one of you to re-live the fun of living in your imagination
