Update: ZCT raised $1,712 for the
Salvation Army
Its a
heartwarming show with holiday music both traditional and new.
ZCT's 14th Annual Angel
Tree Benefit is in full swing this year offering musical medleys of
merriment that both warm the heart and tug at the heart strings. Rich
Tolliver, along with the musical talents of Darla Revennaugh and Sarah Rice
have pulled together traditional holiday favorites as well as songs that
enhance the feeling of the season, not to mention zany tunes that will have
you shaking your head in amusement.
There will also be a
video presentation honoring the families who have lost a loved one in the War
on Terrorism. It will accompany a song penned by Rich Tolliver and sung
by Susan Davis entitled 'One Star, A Soldier's Lament'. The
video work features Dan Brown and Jillian VonGunten, with videography by
Brandon Ransbottom.
This year's Angel Tree
Benefit is entitled "A Perfect Christmas?" Is perfection really
possible during the holidays? If so, what is it and how is it measured?
Zanesville Community Theatre is celebrating its now 14 year tradition of
giving back to the community by creating this show with all donations
benefiting the Salvation Army's quest to serve the needy of our community
and our neighboring communities. Did you know that this entire production is
created by volunteers? ZCT creates a show for everyone who auditions for it -
no one who wants to participate is turned away. Caring members of
Zanesville and neighboring towns have donated time, money, and services to
help ensure that ZCT continues its history of giving. There are no
paid staff members - all monies collected from ticket sales (which are
donations - there is no set ticket price to see this show) and our
raffle go directly to support the Salvation Army's mission. ZCT's holiday show
has been among the top 3 contributors to the Salvation Army's cause - ranking
with companies like Kroger!
Why does Zanesville
Community Theatre do this every year? Their goals are three:
#1 - To create a show
for everyone! People aren't second class citizens because they are going
through tough times. ZCT has created an avenue for families to enjoy a holiday
outing where otherwise, financially they may not be able to.
#2 - To introduce people
who are 'interested in being on stage' to the theater. We cast everyone who
wants to participate! From young to young at heart - we make places for
everyone - even if they just want to walk across the stage. ZCT encourages
their interest.
#3 - Most importantly -
To help those in need. This year more than ever, families are suffering. The
reasons range from the economy to the involvement of loved ones in the
War on Terrorism. These families need support on so many levels - financially
they just can't afford to celebrate the season as they'd like.
Emotionally - its lonely without the ones we love close by. ZCT's Angel Tree
Benefit offers a pleasant distraction from the stresses of the world we
live in. It also offers a window of hope and friendship. Every
member of our Angel Tree Benefit show really does care.
