Director's Notes - Big River

The great thing about doing a show like Big River is not only do we bring together Mark Twain's great story of Huckleberry Finn, great music (Roger Miller) and our own great local talent; we also get to tell a story with a message - all wrapped in song and dance, a little laughter, and some suspenseful dramatics.  I believe this message is as important today as it ever was.  We've obviously come a long way in this country, but there is still much to be done.

This script contains dialogue which, while harsh and demeaning in a few places, it is there to make a point, to set the tone for the time and place and manner in which black people were treated in this country.
